FIN 110 Unit 1

STUDY #2 Still Life Composition

My grouping for the still life. I found that my mind was taking too long to try and build a creature. It was like the building of the creature became the focus instead of the drawing. I used 3 items for this drawing. a weird plastic rabbit, a pepper shaker, and a clay skull with crystal eyes for my compilation.
Thumbnail sketches of my still life.
I did 4 thumbnail sketches of my items. For some reason, the rabbit was just irritating me. After he got the boot from my drawing, i could concentrate on the task at hand.
Drawing out my sketch onto 12 x 18 inch paper.
I am not use to working in a larger size format. I used a gridding system to work out my drawing. I have trouble drawing from life, so took a picture of my items and used that for reference.

I need to set a timer to stop myself in the process to take a picture. I get so caught up in it that i forget and have no ‘middle’ documentation!
Still Life. 12″ x 18″ Graphite and Ink on Paper

I enjoyed working with the larger heavier graphite pencil. I like the different line thickness that it can produce. This is the first time I have ever used scribble lines since a very early age. I am always so uptight with my art. I have to learn to be looser and just let it flow.
