FIN 110 Unit 2

Here is the progression of my drawing from start to finish.

I wanted to include a stone map layout in my drawing. It also references sacred geometry within the circle. A map of how the stones would have looked complete many years ago.
Sketching in some stones on the right under the circle map.
Drawing in the stones on the left. I wanted it to feel like an info diagram. Also, to allow the viewer a different visual adventure looking from the altar in the centre outwards..
Making decisions and firming up contour lines in ink.
Making marks! Filling in spaces with line work. Trying to express the texture and movement of the stones.
Using the pencil to add shading and depth to areas on the right. Trying to think about light sources and shadows that objects cast on the ground and each other.
Working on adding grey values to the left hand side. Something needs to happen with the space between the round stone map, and the left hand box. Too much white. Need to do some work on my printing.
Memories of Time. Graphite and pen on paper. 18″ x 23″ 2021

I was happy with my finished drawing. I shaded around the stone map in a circular fashion. I felt it suggested the sun, and its importance to this monument. I added a few more far away details on the horizon to try to coax your eye even further into the distance of this drawing. I shaded the bases of all the stones darker to anchor them further into the ground. There is a UFO within this drawing, but you will never find it as it is cloaked.
