Critique Drawing #2

Thumbnail sketches of baby Eve. A black pug.
Sketch of Eve on the bed. thinking about backgrounds.
Experimenting with background rubbings.

I decided to go with a fairly close up view of her face.

The start of the drawing. I still need to grid to keep it on track.
Such a sweet little face.
Adding in a layer of graphite
Filling in the hair patterns.
After filling in with graphite. I went over everything with charcoal.
Erasing pigment and drawing in dark lines. Adding in more charcoal and darker lines.

Added in a background and many dark little hairs. I used a darker scratchy line around her as I like the way it looked. I also did some more erasing of pigment.

Baby Eve. 18″x 24″. graphite and charcoal on paper.

Baby Eve… I love her. She has been with me for 8 years. Never leaves my side. It was fun to focus my attention on this drawing. Baby Eve didn’t think so. I had to take my attention off of her to draw her.
