FIN 120 Unit 3

Contrast of Extensions

I decided to use the yellow and violet paint. I had to draw a meaningful object. The items on my desk have had super meaning lately. I started with a watered down Violet wash.

Sketchbook brush and paints Violet and yellow.

This next painting was the one with two much yellow in ratio to the Violet. I found the purple turned very dark over the yellow under wash.

All this yellow kind of jars my eyes.

I went into the bathroom to take a bath. I find my bathtub to be very important in my life. The current cat that lives here is always hanging out inside the tub and peeking out at you. It always makes me laugh. What is most meaningful to me right now is humor. So I am going to attempt to paint that emotion.

Sketchbook. 2 versions of cat in my bathtub.

First Version of Painting too much Yellow

Thumbnail sketch of the cat in the tub.
Yellow wash put down to start.

Painted in violet and more layers of yellow. Added a bit of white. The purple greys right out over the yellow.

Next Painting with Proper Color Proportions

Thumbnail sketch of cat in tub.

This is the point where I zoned out and forgot to take pictures. I used a purple wash on the whole picture to begin with. Then I went in with the violet and did more layers.

I used some white on the tub to help bring out the yellow some more. Added in more violet layers. The paper is getting weird in some areas. It is breaking down.

This semester has been such a treat. I very much enjoyed mixing colors and using them. The critiques were a lot of fun. It was so interesting to see how different everyones work was.
