PART 2. Cardboard Sculpture
The same process was used to create my mushroom lady out of cardboard. The difference was the use of the third program Inkscape to get the patterns formatted for laser cutting. All the numbers had to be removed and all lines had to be changed from blue to red. As I had already done this last semester, it all went very quick. The files were all sent off and a lovely stacks of laser cut cardboard were waiting for pickup at the college to be taken home for assembly.

I used the pattern from Slicer and numbered each one of my pieces before removing them from the cardboard shell. I started at the bottom and glued the stack upwards. Thick white craft glue held each layer in place. I found the top half of my sculpture to be heavy, and the bottom half to be short. I removed some of the mushroom cap rings and used them to cut out some more torso rings including a bosom.

Now that she had better proportions, her head did not want to stay on her body. The weight would cause the paper layers to separate. I used a 4 inch piece of wire as a stabilizing spine and that firmed things right up.

Time to get out and get some nature shots while the sun was shining.
