LAB 2
Mash up
We were tasked with brainstorm some ideas of creative ways we could combine our objects to create a new object or narrative. I came up with 3.

The first Mash up I called “Gastropod”. I used the shell, jaw bone, clay, and twine. I attached the jaw bone to some rolled out clay. using the twine, I wrapped the jawbone to create a body. the other end of the jawbone fit up nicely into the shell. After I made the creature, I had fun taking it out to the garden to photograph.

The second Mash up is called “No Smoking”. The lighter, jaw bone, and twine were used. i attached the jaw bone to the lighter with the twine. The front fang covers the thumb plate where you would press for fire. The twine is wrapped many times around the lighter to hinder its function. A torn paper ”No Smoking” sign has been tucked into the strings further driving the message home.

The third Mash up is called “Purgatory”. I used the shell, clay and twine. The shell has been filled with clay to provide a shallower hole. Bits of moss and a bird skull are nested inside. A clear quartz crystal rests in a dimple in the shell. 3 strands of green twine are knotted together to make a holder for hanging.

Making Meaning
I will now use “Gastropod” in three different narratives .
