FIN 210 Unit 1

Figurative Studies Anatomy

Close Up Drawing.

Using graphite powder we were tasked to draw a body part depicting the anatomy underneath the skin. I decided on the male arm.

I did a few google searches for some illustrations.

I had to include the 1953 advert I saw in a vintage magazine I was reading yesterday. Big arms have always been desired.

Sketchbook drawings.

I have had the pleasure to live with Mister Day for 25 years. His body is different now that he is 71. He will still strike a pose when needed for a gesture sketch. ( I am aware the first drawing has a too short forearm. It needs to be corrected.)

Not a huge fan of working with the powder. Everything gets black. My mood was getting black as well so I just stopped before I ripped it up. Looking at it later, I actually like the torso and the ribs better than the arm. I am not looking forward to hanging this up on the wall for Critique Day.

Post Critique

People enjoyed the shading over the ribcage. It was also noted where is the elbow? It did kind of get lost in my drawing.
