FIN 110 Unit 2

I chose to draw Stonehenge for my critique drawing. I have many personal photos and vintage clippings and papers in my private collection of Stonehenge to use as reference. The first time I saw Stonehenge I was 13 years old. I was expecting to see something way bigger than what I expected. All those school textbook drawings done by Inigio Jones were way out of proportion. Sometimes when I am over in England, I imagine redoing the signage for the National Trust or English Heritage sights. Everything needs an upgrade over time.

Sketchbook page. Thinking about my drawing.
I have worked on some heritage stone walls being rebuilt over in England. I would love to try something large like Stonehenge. Maybe in my side yard here in Courtenay…
Sketchbook layout. #1 and #2

I planned my first idea to have the monument, stone map, and a close up insert. My second idea was to have a panorama of the stones, and a UFO flying overhead. After speaking with the instructor, I chose the narrative without the UFO. People will fill in what they want to believe.

Sketchbook musing about the stones.
Sketchbook. Sarsen stones.
Sketchbook Light sources, and stone layout maps.
Sketchbook. Was thinking about adding a UFO. Went for a different narrative instead.
